Oooh boy, it's been awhile since my last update. A full year, actually. So let's catch up.
One of the projects I've been working on in the last year is an artist collective... which, for those of you who don’t know, is basically like a club for artists. We meet once a month to talk art-related issues, current projects, what we’re struggling with, what we’re succeeding at, all as we drink coffee/wine/other beverages. It’s lovely. We call ourselves We Are Pie 🍰 (...I mean, we're a bunch of millennials, what did you expect?) and I’m excited to say that next month we’ll be having our first public event! We’ll be taking part in the Abbotsford Arts Council’s fundraiser Art to Dine For on Feb 8th. We’ll have original works of art, prints, other small items, as well as our first collaborative zine for sale at this ONE NIGHT ONLY EVENT. Ticket sales will support future cultural events in Abbotsford, but all art sales will stay with the group and help us make even more art!
I'm also starting off this year with my very first ever solo show! Very exciting. The show (Art on Demand 5.1) will be up at the Reach Gallery in Abbotsford Jan 24 - March 10 with opening reception happening on Jan 24 starting at 7PM. Along with my show, the Reach is doing a full exhibition turnover, with work by Mohsen Khalil, Cindy Baker, and Stephanie Patsula also opening that same night. Definitely an event worth attending, if I do say so myself.
So check it out, and I hope to see you there! And of course: more to come in the future... eventually.
